Mankind UK is a UK charity that offers male
rape counselling, as well as advice on surviving sexual assault through
our crisis centre. Please read through the following FAQ's for more information
about what we do.....
1.How can Mankind UK help?
Mankind UK is a support and resource for men that are continuing to suffer
trauma from unsolicited sexual episodes such as male rape or male sexual
assault.

What areas does Mankind UK serve?
Mankind UK serves Clients on a one -2 - one basis throughout East &
West Sussex. It also provides a support network to the whole of the UK
via the telephone or Emails.
Mankind UK also supports men throughout the world via the Internet.

4.Does
Mankind UK charge for its services?
Yes, but for Counselling only.
All charges are based on a sliding scale dependant on ability to pay
Waged £15 to £25 per hour
Un - waged £5 to £10 per hour
These are guidelines only.
5.If
I select Mankind UK do I have a choice of Counsellor?
Yes. The Co Ordinator will talk to you about your preferences at your
assessment meeting.
6.
How much Counselling will Mankind UK provide?
We offer an "open ended " provision. This allows the Client
to be more relaxed about their work and gives them space to work through
their issues in depth without feeling pressurised.
7.My
Counsellor is on holiday but I need to talk to someone what do I do?
Your Counsellor will ensure that you have a contact number to call should
you need it.
8.Which
model do your Counsellors follow?
We follow the model as laid down by Carl Rogers, more commonly known as
the Person Centred Approach.
We believe that this model allows the Client an inner depth to themselves
and allow a clearer understanding of their issues.
9.Where
do you get your Counsellors from?
From all areas, they are, in the main, qualified, having attained a minimum
of at least a recognised Diploma in Counselling. We do take Student Counsellors
that are in their final year of their Diploma Course.
We liase closely with Colleges and their training methods.
10.
Are your Counsellors specially trained?
Yes. All of our Counsellors start with a rigorous interview and once accepted
are put through our training course. Not everyone gets through because
it is tough.
11.
Do you provide Group Counselling?
We have the facility to provide Group Counselling. We keep a log of applicants
and run sessions once we have enough people.
12.
I want to fill in the Personal Census Form but is it secure?
Yes. No names or address' are required.
13.
Why do you have a Personal Census Form?
The Individual Census is to enable us as a Charity to make Public the
issues around Male Sexual Abuse.
Currently, it is thought that one in five males have been sexually abused,
But we think that this figure could be higher.
14.how
many Clients do you see in a year?
About 200
15.Who
funds Mankind UK?
We have been very fortunate in obtaining some funding from various Charitable
Trusts.
We also have received funds from individuals.
However our cause is not an acceptable thing for Society at large to talk
about or think of. Therefore we have limited resources.
16.
I am not a Client but can I donate money to Mankind UK?
Yes.
In the UK, by cheque or Postal Order to the address above.
Alternatively through direct from your company to us, via Charity Aid.
We receive additional funds from government for every donation made.
